What’s up my gang! Hope you all are well!!! I crossed the one year on mission mark on Friday and spent it in an awesome way! Let’s hop into it!
August 11th
Today was an awesome day! We had a day full of lessons which is never normal! And it was awesome! We finished our friend Degemengs lessons! He is ready to be baptized, and we are working on getting him an interview and he will be good for baptism! It is great to have someone else on date.

Dink (amazing in Amharic) day as well! Had some Baller(Successful for your older folks) Amharic studies and lessons! We went finding and found a lot, me and elder Lucas are getting pretty good rhythm of finding so it’s pretty lit!

Liiiiiiit day! Today had quite a bit of finding and then started an exchange with the Arat kilo Elders. I went out with Elder Foster. At the end of the day, we went to dinner at Marcus Addis, which is the nicest restaurant that I have been to once before. It was built by an Ethiopian adoptee and is at the top of one of the High Rises. We also managed to find White Monsters and enjoyed them together celebrating hitting the one-year mark. Finding them in Ethiopia was a real treat! God is Good! After this we talked for hours until we fell asleep which was later than normal. It was an awesome day! I cannot believe I have been out a year!

1 year.... That’s weird. But I’ll be honest who cares I’m still a greenie, or in other words someone who just got to the mission and I will be forever in my life. Yes, I miss my family, and I love you all so dearly, but I must serve the Lord with my heart, might, mind, and strength (D&C 4) Today I spent some time teaching Elder Foster some Amharic! I love teaching and talking and lowkey doing everything in Amharic! It’s nice. One thing I have realized being out a year is that you really must put effort into learning the language. Especially serving in the capital city. There are so many opportunities to speak English, and a lot of people want to practice. So, some of the missionaries fall back on that. Also, Amharic is a tough language to learn, and I have worked hard to learn it. One thing I also have realized is that when I speak to people in their language, I get more respect and appreciate that I have made the effort to learn it and speak it with them. It brings both of us to the same level. I spent some time encouraging Elder Foster to pick it up in this area and he agreed that he needs to work harder on his language. One thing about being in the rural part of Ethiopia is that you have no choice but to learn the language because no one speaks English. It is one reason I look forward to being transferred out of the city sooner.

Pretty chill day, just lots of preparation for Sunday. This week we set some lofty goals and set our minds to accomplish them with the Lord’s help. We have worked hard and blew the goals out of the water. I felt so good about my work this week. I really love being here in Ethiopia.

The Sunday numbers were rough and a little discouraging because of the work we put in. Although I believe we are on the verge of something amazing!

P-Day, lowkey just chilling today! Woke up at 5 to call my family, then went back to sleep and woke up again at 12! Not like me at all!!! I can’t sleep that late, but it was really nice I won’t lie hahahah. I decided I really needed to quit drinking caffeine (energy drinks) so I’m not going to drink anymore and really push myself to not drink any caffeine. More specifically energy drinks. My mom is smiling but disbelief. Maybe all that talking she has been doing is sinking in.
Welp, that’s all for the week! Love you all and love seeing updates from all of you! Please always send more I love them!! Please be safe, I’ll see u guys soon. It’s all downhill from here and my pace is picking up.
እወዳቸኋለሁ (I love u all)
