Rainy Season Has Arrived

Hello everyone, don’t worry, I’m chilling out here in the beautiful town of Ayat. Ups and downs this week are below. So, let’s hop in.
March 3rd
Nothing really happened because all our appointments were canceled, and it rained like cats and dogs. Ethiopia is going to be entering the rainy season soon. A shorter, lighter rainy season, called Belg, occurs from February/March to May. The main rainy season in Ethiopia, known as Kiremt, occurs from June to September, with the heaviest downpours in July and August. Which means every day for the next 6 months I will be soaked, so that'll be fun. Work will defiantly be different.

Today was Mission Leaders Council (MLC). I am a part of this because I am a zone leader. I love MLC because I get to be with some amazing missionaries and this MLC made me realize I need to " lock in for chop chin" as Elder Thayne would put it. This means I need to be a better missionary and truly give it my all because, I am not going to lie I've been slacking and letting somethings slide when I really shouldn't. At this conference I had a turning point in my mission, and I did some real soul searching and I looked into myself and decided that I am 100% in and 100% obedient. Not that I had been doing anything bad. But I realized it is the little things that matter and some of “my things” that I had not given up were holding me back, like my unwillingness to give up my music. But I did it TODAY! So, it was a good day, and we found some people on the way home.

We had weekly district meeting today. Our mission leaders, the Cowley surprisingly joined us. We (my companion and me) got chewed out for our data usage. This has been an issue with my last few companions. They have not had the “Ah-ha” moment that I have and choose to use their phones for things they shouldn’t be and on their phones to late. It is a problem. I have tried everything that I can think of to get my companion to obey the mission rules, but in the end, it is his choice. However, there is no way for the leaders to see that the culprit is me or him so we both got chewed out by the Pres., so that’s fun. After that we had some lessons and went to teach English class, then we went to Tuts house! It was fun and I love being with those guys. What's not fun is my companion has kind of stopped talking to me for a bit. He told me when we were made companions that when he is mad at someone, he stops talking to them. Good he let me know that beforehand, so when it happened, I was well aware of what was going on. I guess he is mad that I outed him about not obeying the rules. But that is on him and so we will figure that out.

Today was exchanges with the DL (District Leaders) that was fun! Being able to switch it up. We have had lots of lessons and just had an amazing time together. Elder Ikpeti is a great district leader and will go far in this mission! He is a dog, not literally 😊

We met this cool guy named Rahun, he's awesome. In the same day we met him, he came to seminary, and we taught him after! He was just saying, "yeah i have time" and so then that pretty much ended our day, hopefully we will put him on date soon 🤞 and then we did translation for sisters in Germany. They have an investigator in Germany that is Ethiopian interested in our message, and so they call us and we translate for them. That has been very interesting.

It was a good day at church, sadly numbers went down but it was chill. Then I did some accounting and hung out with everyone which was nice. We spent some time helping Mercy ready for baptism and reviewed everything with her. And so, she should be good next week for baptism!

P-day today will be chill, I need to get a haircut. When we were with the Cowley’s, President Cowley asked me, “Elder Frasier, who is your barber?” Then Sister Cowley translated and said, "that means go get a haircut on Monday". That was funny but I understood and will go get one today. Pictures below of the after-cut hairdo :)

Hope you are all safe and well and vibing! As I was talking to some friends this week and seeing stories, I see the next group of summer missionaries down the barrel, and it made me realize how much time I really don’t have. I need to cherish it because 19-year-old me will only exist here. And so good luck to everyone's life
Please pray for Elder Van, he rolled his ankle pretty bad and had to get emergency transferred while it heals.
