Soooooo uhhhhh where’d April go? I don’t even know anymore hahahaha! But regardless its chill! This week was pretty dang good! I loved it a lot! Let’s hop into this week!

April 28th

We had our weekly meeting with all the missionaries in our district. After, we immediately went down to a place called Arat Kilo. Arat Kilo was an area I served in for one transfer if any of you are keeping track. We did an exchange with the two Elders serving there.  I served with Elder Wall; he is very funny! That night we played a game called Skull King. It’s a favorite game around the mission. It was a nice night; I haven’t had a good laugh like that in a while.

April 29th

We finished up exchanges by going up to Entoto and then after that we headed over to Meg! Because we had another exchange that was starting with the APs. I got to go with Elder Ayele again (my first companion) It is always nice to be with him.

April 30th

I finished up exchanges with Elder Ayele this morning/ afternoon. Right now, we are doing exchange start times weird because of the gas problem but it’s getting better! I am not sure how it is getting better; I am not sure if people have just stopped driving and therefore there is more gas.  Or if the government here has found another source.  But we are not having as much trouble getting a taxi. I had another interview with President Cowley because he forgot he had one in Buryu a few weeks ago with me hahaha.  However, I love President Cowley, so I am always happy to have time to speak with him.  I am going to miss him when he leaves in July.

May 1

Hooooooooollllllyyyy what!!! How is it May already?  I cannot believe it. We had Mission Leader Conference today.  We had the good fortune of having President Mutombo who is an area 70 join us. It was so great to be with him.  Being a small mission with only 50-60 missionaries it is not lost on me that I am blessed to have some of these types of experiences.  We had dinner with several of the Missionary Elder leaders, and I was fortunate to be amongst the ones who was able to eat and feel of his spirit and listen to his life story.  He has had a very hard life but told us the faith and decision to serve God was something he needed, and it has shaped his life forever. It was a very spiritual MLC. After MLC we traveled home and it was nice cause it didn’t take that long.

May 2nd

Today was the first full day back in the cold town of Buryu! Me and my companion did pretty good work! Went finding and we put our friend Girma on date for baptism. It was nice to see him make this decision and so hopefully he can progress more! 🙏🙏🤞

May 3rd

Today was district conference! For those who don’t remember it’s a huge conference for Addis Ababa. It’s like stake conference! Because there are no congregations large enough to be wards the country, we only have Districts not stakes.  It was nice to understand a lot more of the talks which were all in Amharic. I really felt the spirit in this district conference! My Amharic is really coming along, and I feel as if I am making good progress in both speaking and listening. Another bonus for me was that I was able to see some friends from two old areas that I have served in, The University and Ayat branches! I never got to say goodbye to either as both places I had to leave quickly for various reasons. So, it was nice to see them!

May 4

May the 4th be with you for my Star Wars fans! It’s P-day!  YEAH!  Today we are not doing a lot, honestly just hanging out hahaha sleeping and hopefully working out! It’s fun.

I want to leave my testimony at the end of this email. And shout out to a few people

The first is Paul Christensen, he wrote me a note that contained some “missionary how-tos". I read quite a lot it encourages me and brings me a lot of answers to questions I have. One thing I've recently been thinking about is " if you miss the joy, you miss the purpose". I have been having a hard time with my new area because I've felt like it’s not where I’m supposed to be. Because we were transferred from Gambella due to security concerns. But as I've had these feelings of missing the joy of my purpose, I have also been meeting new beautiful members and having people to talk with me and my awesome companion.  Because it wasn’t perfect I was looking for the bad and expecting it. I worked hard this last week and prayed for a change to my mindset.  It has come and with it there have been some amazing things I've seen and experienced recently.

Don't miss the joy and find love where you are. That goes for missionaries and all the people I love back home!

I know my Savior lives and sees me always. I know that the plan of salvation is true and I have no doubt about my life or where it’s going because of this plan. I love this plan and everything it has to offer. But we will only get the blessings if we are faithful and walking upright with Christ! I encourage everyone who's not on a mission to listen or read the talk “Ask in Faith" by Elder Bednar Spring 2008. It’s a good one

Good luck to Kendalyn Harris on the elections coming up in June!  If I could get a ballot, you would get my vote. Unfortunately, I am not able to get mail or packages in Ethiopia.  Good luck, much love 🫶

Don't do anything stupid guys I love you all
