Hello everybody! Missionaries! Family! Friends and all! I hope you are all safe and ever so successful in your endeavors! Everything is good here and there's not much to complain about, except the fact that I want to be out of here! Anyway! I have a little more than a week before I head out to Ethiopia.   Here's my day-to-day entries

Thursday, Sept 25

Today was a good day, it is P-Day (preparation day) And honestly really fun! I played basketball in the morning and after that called home! When I went to do laundry there was no one there and it was amazing. Usually, I am fighting off lots of missionaries to get an open machine. Moving towards the end of the night me and my roommate (not my companion) got into a fight with another missionary. Well let me change that..... I found myself taking full punches. Don't worry I didn’t react and hop in (I am not going to lie, I really wanted to) BUT! I didn’t. We were riding in the elevator, and it was packed full of missionaries.  Too many to be honest.  There was a big Samoan missionary towards the front, and we were at the back.  The elevator opened and no one was getting off except my roommate and me.  So, we had to ask everyone to move and push our way towards the front.  As we got to the front my roommates tag came off and fell off.  This big Samoan Elder grabbed it and threw it at us; this made my roommate mad.  Too much testosterone and having been here a long time caught up to him at this minute and suddenly there was a full out fight breaking out.  It took another large rugby playing missionary to restrain the big Samoan missionary while, at the same time, I grabbed my roommate and said, “we are leaving”.  That got my heartrate racing and I am glad that we were all fine. It’s a good reminder to keep cool and not react because of other people’s actions.

Saturday, Sep 27

I don’t understand how September is almost over.  While being here in the MTC I’ve gone through like 7 pens already and too many note pads. I cannot believe how much I am learning and enjoying it.  But honestly, the days are moving by fast, I am not complaining at all. We had a surprise teaching so that was a struggle.  This means we were told that we needed to teach a gospel lesson in Amharic impromptu.  But it went good otherwise. I have been having some good sleep recently, which is so nice, but I sure don’t like to wake up. I will survive, anyway signing off.

Sunday, Sep 28

I got sick today! I don’t know what it is, but honestly, I’ll be fine. Just a fever, I think. I went to my first meeting but then I was too sick and needed to lay down.  Didn't help that it was fast Sunday.  That meant that food choices were limited and made it a challenge for me. Next fast Sunday I will be in Ethiopia.  I'm just tired and need it to be p-day hahaha.

That's all for today!

Monday, Sep 29

Honestly, it was a pretty boring day. Just classes. I had to skip out on gym (which I hate missing) because I’m still sick but hopefully it will go away soon. It will be the best sleep ever (hopefully) but other than that nothing to report.

Tuesday, Sep 30

Update...... worst sleep here so far. However, today was interesting, classes were weird cause it didn't feel like we had anything. For some reason one of the teachers taught in the afternoon. That is not normal.  But this gave me some time to get a haircut.  I was skeptical about getting a haircut here as it seemed like the Barber only had one haircut style and that was to shave off the hair leaving only a very short amount of hair on top.  I like my hair and have wanted to grow out the top, don’t worry African hair can grow long but still look short 😊.  I then like a fade on the sides, and it did not appear that that this was a skill the barber had.  But I was getting desperate and needed my sides cut so I stepped in to his shop and gave him a try.  I was pleasantly surprised.  It looked good and it will buy me some time once I get to Ethiopia before needing a haircut.  The day is now over, and it was really good.

Wednesday, October 1

Today was good and crazy to think it's already October! I am so close to getting out of here but there are still some funny moments. I gave someone a haircut and lowkey messed it up BAD!  I know yesterday I was just saying how I was concerned about going to the barber and having the professional mess up my hair and here I thought I could cut hair and do a better job. WRONG!  Luckily, the Barbers room was next to me, and he fixed it just fine hahahahahaha! Anyway, signing off for the week.  Love you all!

Spiritual thought for the week:

Sadly, the Prophet Russel M. Nelson died on Saturday, and since then we have had speakers and music and everything beautiful in remembering his life. What's been ringing in my mind is the phrase "Homeward Bound" from the song I sang many times also titled “Homeward Bound”. In the song it talks about being homeward bound to our Heavenly Father and that brought me peace knowing that not just the prophets, but everybody on the earth right now is homeward bound to our home above.  I testify that families are forever in heaven, and I will always be sealed to mine. President Nelson did so many amazing things and changed the hearts of many. We will remember him fondly.
