Baptism and Service to Others

Hellllloooooooooo everyone! I want to start by saying Happy Birthday to my wonderful sister Marissa! Love you ❤️, and second, our Friend Degemegn was baptized today. CHEEEE HOOOOO!
August 25th
Today we had DCM (District Conference Meeting), which we went to because I am a Zone Leader. Afterward, one of the missionary companion pairs called us because they were having a lot of issues with each other. Because of this, we had to do an emergency exchange and let two elders cool down. A lot was going on. I have been thinking a lot about these types of events, and I have realized that when we are angry at someone, that is when we need to serve them. When you serve someone you do not like or are angry with, it is amazing what that can do for each of you. When I was doing the exchange, I talked to the Elder I was with and asked him, “What have you done to serve your companion?” “Have you thought about doing something kind to them or for them? Or do you just hold in your anger?” I think that is something for everyone to think about. Are you mad at someone; do you have bad feelings for another person? Take that anger and figure out what you can do to serve them. It will surprise you how those feelings can leave and even change.
August 26th
Today I finished the emergency exchange, and during that time we had some good findings and lessons with some of our friends.
August 27th
Soooo many member visits! Lowkey kind of crazy. We have really been working on getting the members able to sustain the branch/groups here in Ethiopia. This takes not just finding new members but helping those that are here to become leaders and rise up and take charge. After our member visits, we taught our friend Sintayu! It was an amazing lesson, and we invited him to be baptized. Sadly, he did not accept… yet. He wants to learn more, so we will keep meeting with him.
August 28th
Today we visited our best members, Selam and her Family! Amazing people to visit! After that, it took two hours to get to the big chapel in Meg. We were supposed to meet up with the APs to start an exchange. Transportation here is tricky and long.
August 29th
Fun day with sports and lots of lessons! The Meg Chapel is the only real chapel in all of Ethiopia, and it is like a big compound, and it is a great place to get together and do games and socialize with the missionaries in the area and members too. I was out with one of the AP’s doing visits, and we put one of the AP's friends on date to be baptized. That made it a great day. Afterward, I spent some time calling people to make arrangements for church the next day. After we ended our exchange, Elder Lucas and I went back to our apartment.
August 30th🌊
Our friend Degemegn got baptized!!!! It was amazing, and he was very happy. Our friend Sinatyu, who is also learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, accepted our invitation to get baptized. So, we will have another baptism hopefully soon!
August 31
Normal p-day, just kind of hanging out and sleeping, just chilling and studying and stuff. Lowkey chill
Welp! That’s it for this week! Surprisingly doing amazing work in Saris! The Lord has truly blessed us and put forth his hand to help us! It's already September, which is crazy.... I don’t believe it, honestly. We will be getting some new missionaries here in a few weeks. Unfortunately, the Ethiopian government only granted Visas to the American Elders. So, the other Elders and Sisters will be reassigned to other countries. It is sad to lose them, especially when they have spent so much time learning the Amharic language. Relations with other African countries can make it difficult for just normal people to come into the country.
